motherboard upgrade advise

I am currently running an AMD phenom II x6 on a AM3 socket motherboard. I I were to upgrade to a AM3+ board would I be able to use my existing cpu...thanks

Most likely yes whats the board and what is your chip

The AM3+ socket has 1 more pin than the AM3 socket but is backward compatible with the AM3 socket. When choosing a motherboard just make sure that it takes both sockets.

Another thing to consider is that you will have to buy a new OS if you don't have an additional key because Windows registration is tied to the motherboard from what I have read.
