I have searched far and wide till my eyes now hurt. Yest my motherboard went pop when I plugged the cable into my PSU (always have it switched off when doing this else u will end up like me:-()
I have an Albatron GeForce 7950GT 512MB, which no where seems to sell any more (I wanted to look into SLI)
CPU is AMD A64 3200 939 pin
I have 2 512 sticks of ram and want another gig so need 4 memory slots

I cant find a mother board on sale that fits what I have, nor one that hasn't on board graphics.
Please could someone point me to a retailer and even better a specific board, If people want to hurl noob comments while they are at it I have no problem as long as I find my mother board.
Please help, I am missing my gaming like I would miss oxygen. COH, COD2, BF2, BF2142 and I really really really want a new (actually new) first person as BF2142 sucks so any help there would also be appreciated.

Toms hardware has provided solutions for years, this is the first time i've needed forum help...don't let me down Tom.

Thanks anyway. my heart was all ablaze. I picked out a perfect board and at a much cheaper price after conversion. At least I know the boards are still being sold, if just across the atlantic....lol

Unfortunately support for S-939 cpu's and AGP has gone the way of the dinosaur. You should be able to get a 939 board still, but it will take a lot of searching. If you can afford it,I recommend upgrading to AM2 or C2D.I am a reseller here in Sooke B.C. Canada, and I can tell you that not everything is gone yet.You might only be able to find a 939 board that is PCI-E.Buy it and switch to a PCI-E video card. There are a lot of them out there that are cheap enough and will outperform your paltry 6200.Goodluck.

Thanks all, paultry 6200? I have a 7950 GT 512 MB not top end but still!... and it is PCI Xpress which is why i want to go SLi, I have a 6600 GT 256 MB sat in a box gathering dust (for sum reason it was incompatible with my KN8 ultra mother board same thing with my mates identical spec), but the comp i'm using now (the misses') has a 6200, luck at guessing? magic? hack? or does the forum post what your using so people can't fib lol,.
One thinks it might be time for an overhaul :-(

Thanks a hell of a lot. Was looking at the cost of an all new pc and its way more than I want to pay. Especially since I'm gonna go mental after my dissertation and buid a super rig to counteract the mundane life I will be leading once I get a job:-(

As Dahak says. look to change to AM2 (Sell your old bits on Ebay)
Here in Oz it's almost as cheap to buy an AM2/CPU/RAM as a new 939 motherboard (CPU and DDR2 RAM are much cheaper)
JB

Just as a side note, make sure your PSU has a 24pin connector for that mobo that you have linked. Not sure if your older mobo had it already (24pin), some have a 20pin mobo connector. Pretty sure yours had one before, but double check. If your PSU doesn't have a 24pin connector you can get a converter that will convert from 20pins to 24pins, not too much to worry about there.

Hi, try scan.co.uk. They also have good Tech Support/advice. Do you know what chipset your old board was? If you can buy same chipset your old windows installation may run without requiring a repair/install. By the way, you can only SLI 2 boards that are the same GPU, you will need another 7950GT. Sell your old card on Ebay.

Mike.

My PSU shot sparks in the fry, I wouldnt trust it with a new board. I know I need another 7950 GT, i just cant seem to find one. Scan suck, they are all call for price and 80 quid is more than I want to spend on old tech. I've pretty much decided to get a dual core CPU. I'm gonna post this in the relevent section but my 3200 to a new AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz (AM2) seems to be a down of 200 but I cant see any dual at +3. Am I getting the wrong end of the firewire?

has it a shy under 100 quid. I bought my 3200 at a shy under 100 and i'm just plain getting a head ache from staring at prices for 2 days now

So to "end" the thread. I've given up trying to get a socket 939 board. Thank you all for your advice

Sorry to not be able to help you too much. Computers when they don't work can be very much a headache. Trust me I know about it. Have 3 desktops and 1 laptop. When one goes out at home the wife/kids let me know and boy do I get pain when I can't fix within a short time!
