I bought some parts for a build a month ago and two days ago the computer will not display an image, no speaker beeps, and will not POST.
I remember troubleshooting everything, and found out the the power supply was not the cause of the issue (the power supply powered another system in the house). So this means that it is either the motherboard, CPU, or RAM fault.
Today I brought the parts to the local store I bought from. They offered to test it and found that the RAM was working, while the motherboard and cpu along with their power supply and RAM would also not POST.
What is the cause of this issue? I remember replacing the stock heatsink fan with a hyper 212 evo and during installation, my screwdriver slipped and scraped against the motherboard. Upon visual inspection there was no damage to the motherboard.
Another thing that worries me was that when I attempted to turn on the computer, the fans would spin. However, when I attempted to turn off the computer, holding down the power button for more than 5 seconds did not work. I resorted to flipping the switch on the PSU to turn off the system. Will this harm any components in my computer? The store claimed that the stick of RAM was working fine, does this mean that the graphics card and hard drive will be alive?
Thanks
