Hello everyone.

So I pretty much sold my motherboard (MSI H61M-p31 g3) for a better one because it lacked a lot of features. I sold it for 80 dollars with a cpu and ram, though I already have a spare i7 3770 but I’m planning on buying 16gb DDR3 ram.

While on eBay I saw this motherboard (Asus P8P67 LE) for 50 dollars, although it has 2 broken ram slots so I’m limited to 16gb of ram which is fine by me. I already found a pair of 16gb Ballistix 1600mhz ddr3 ram 2x8.

As I mentioned earlier it does have 2 broken ram lots which is the left 2 close to the CPU socket (Black and Blue). So pretty much the right 2 slots are working fine and I’m trying to get 2x8gb ram and put them there instead, but will it work fine? I know they’ll be running on single channel as well.

Solution
Hi okjak808.

Don't. The Black and Blue are from different channel. If you want your 2 sticks to work in Dual Channel you need the second slot from the CPU and last one.

Thank you for your reply. Yeah I’m going for another motherboard. I found this Asus P8H77 motherboard for 60 dollars and it’s all working, though I’m thinking about getting these G.SKILL 16GB DDR3 Eco ram with it, but I do not know if it’s compatible.

I did tons of research and I couldn’t find much info about this ram...

G.SKILL ECO 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3L 1600MHZ F3-12800CL8D-8GBECO.

I understand that it’s DRR3L so it’s low power ram running about 1.35v I think, so will this work with the motherboard it’s like 40 dollars.
