Using a B450M Pro4 AM4 and using a Cougar MX330 as my case. For some reason when I don't put the IO shield in the case it lines up perfectly fine, but when I put a IO shield in it doesn't line up.

Is a IO shield even necessary? Besides dust protection.

Solution
You are probably ok without the shield.
But, I urge you to learn how to mount with the shield.

First, push the i/o shield firmly into the case.
You need to push all around the periphery to get it seated all around.

To mount the motherboard, you might need three hands.
One to push the motherboard against the shield to compress the usual tabs.
Another to orient the closest mounting hole to the shield.
Another to hold the mounting screw to insert it into the hole. A #2 magnetic tip philips head screwdriver is most helpful with this.

Once in loosely, use that hole to pivot the motherboard to get another screw in.
Leave them all loose and tighten evenly, a bit at a time, in a criss cross pattern.
