Question Motherboard won't post (Error Code 88)

So the story goes that a cheap eBay Bluetooth dongle USB fried my build when plugged in (the old really panicky post here: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/did-bluetooth-usb-fry-my-motherboard.3633453/). My build then would boot up for a split second then shut down. I tried working ddr3 ram I got from my old prebuilt to no avail and the HHD wasn't fried thankfully.

I then replaced the motherboard (p6x58-e-ws to a ga-x58a-ud5 rev 1) and the system booted up but no post. The GPU fans were not running and the back USB ports weren't powered. The LED error code was 88 and after some research about Gigabyte x58 boards with LED code 88, they said it was either the motherboard (just brought from eBay and was said to be tested), CPU, or the power supply. So I'm now wondering if these are the pieces or one of the pieces are fried or defective.

System:
i7 920
ga-x58a-ud5 rev 1 (the new board)
RM1000x
R9 Fury

Thank you in advance

update: tested board ram and cpu with friend's psu and same error post code i'm thinking cpu is dead
