AMD 2950x
64gb RAM
xvga 1080 ti black

Motherboard will post if in pcie2 slot (x8)

removed all ram except 1 stick and problem persists with gpu in slot 1 or 4

Are the slots bad in the mb or is the gpu defective?

I don't have another board to place the gpu. I also dont have another card to put in the x16 pcie slots 1/4

I have full power to the gpu including gfx_12v1 (was required with 4 cards - troubleshooting to see if it would make a difference, but no)

Hello there. Without motherboard and/or gpu to spare it might be difficult to tell it for 100% surely. But if your pc post when gpu is in 8x pci-e, you should benchmark that card in some gpu stress tester - like some new 3d mark, unigine valley benchmark or something like that. If everything will be fine, you should not get overheating, artifacts or bsods. Framerate would be much lower than on pci-16x, but that cames from pci-e 8x and there's nothing really you could do about it.
Since it's quite new mb, you should have warranty on that still, right?

Well, this is cool then.
Anyway - since you've got post, it's 99% for faulty mb slots. However - how do they managed to screw it, if it's brand new mb, as well as (supposedly) strenghtened slots?

Do you have some info about it? Since when does it starts? Does it also affects intel :)? Just curious.

no idea when it started, ive noticed it when i replaced mine old gtx 760 with gtx 1060
ive tryied to use several versions of GOP driver without sucess, the only thing which really helped (me) was enabling >4G adress space, since than it never failed
looking back then some people had succes with csm enabled, some with csm disabled

oh ffs. Can't I simply use GTX750 2gb without having to spend money on gtx 1060 6gb, when I don't even have enough resolution on my screen?
WTF is happening these days with producents, that you had to change your rig like every 2 or so years without extra profits, but with extra loses in wallet?
Anyway - thank you so much for it, I didn't even knew it few days back. I've ordered new pc with ryzen 2nd gen on board and I've planed to left gtx750 for now as my gpu. Will have to look through it, cause otherwise it might end smelly. Like getting original win10 as one and only accepted os isn't enough.
