[SOLVED] Motherboard Won't Post With Heatsink Attached

Hey Guys,

For some reason my motherboard is only posting with my CPU heatsink removed.

I was building my PC today, and when I finished I started it up and the EZ Debug CPU light turned on. I turned off the PC, removed everything and started the motherboard outside of the case with the heatsink OFF. Sure enough, the motherboard posted and booted to the BIOS. I then put the heatsink back on thinking that the issue was resolved, started it and it wouldn't work.

I tried reseating the CPU, trying different RAM slots, nothing would work. Should I return the motherboard? Or is there something that I'm overlooking? Thanks for any help you can give.

Can't say anything as once my intel heatsink fell off and cpu shoot up to 100C. It was a pentium d.
But still I would start with a rma of the motherboard.

Also do check if the motherboard brass standoffs are installed or not.

Okay so you ran the pc without heatsink? I hope the cpu is not damaged at this point. I suggest change the Motherboard first as there is no way a PC would know if cooler is attached or not apart from temperaure sensors on the socket.
