Hi

Pressing the power button does nothing, as if the power chord wasn't plugged in.
So I blindly replaced the PSU (now a BeQuiet 400W), since it's a "stock PC" I figured it was a good shot. It wasn't.

Same problem stll.
I've tried:
- switching the RESET and PWR connectors from the case on the mobo
- hot-wiring (with a screwdriver head) the PWR connector
- removing the RAM-module
- removing the CMOS-battery

But never a change, it's still as if there's no power in the system, no lights no fans...

Does anyone have an idea where to go next?

The idea is probably that the motherboard is broken, however how can I be sure that nothing else is broken (so I can just buy a new motherboard and keep the solution cheap) ?

The setup:
- Gigabyte GA-945GZM-S2
- 1x takeMS 1GB DDR2 667
- some Intel CPU I think
- no extra video card

Kind regards,

Andy

Solution
It has to be the motherboard. No other single, user-replaceable component (other than the PSU of course) would stop the PC from powering up. Unless the fuse has blown in the mains supply plug so no power is actually getting to the PSU, did you check that?

Thanks, this was the answer I was looking (hoping) for. I'm gonna replace the motherboard today and I'll post an update.

Update: The PC now works again. The original CPU was unharmed :)
