Gtx 1070 ti
16 GB ram - 2x8GB

I installed the CPU today, went from an i5 7th gen to the i7 6700k, and i also installed an aftermarket cooler. I started the pc before installing the CPU cooler because it wasn't yet delivered, and it recognized both ram sticks, but after taking the motherboard out to install the cooler it stopped recognizing both stick at once, only one stick at a time works and only on one ram slot, it doesn't recognize the sticks in the other slot, and the monitor gets no signal when both ram sticks are put in.

could it be that one of the ram slots just died ? that was my guess but then why wouldn't it work when both slots are filled ? and i didn't remove the ram when installing the cpu or the cooler either so i don't see how it would get damaged
