motherboard won't start (I think I might have killed it)

I've tried turning on h81 btc r2 motherboard with screwdriver, connected CPU, ram and power supply as instructed and when I touched the pins, it worked for like 0.1 seconds, then just stopped, a tiny tiny bit of smoke came out, and now it's not responding. here is a photo of motherboard after I disconnected the power supply cable. Did I just kill my motherboard without even turning it on? 🙁

Yup looks like the track on the mobo has come away. Whats that screw under it??If it's a standoff screw, you dont have to use screws that big

You blew that trace right off the board. If you are skilled with a soldering iron you could run a wire, but usually when a trace blows that hard there are other things that went with it.

Thanks for the fast response guys. I guess I'll see if the warranty covers it. I was the first time to turn it on, and I can't see what went wrong...

What went wrong is you used bolts to put the motherboard in and they cut into the power rails, shorted to ground and blew up the board. If you repeat that process you'll blow up another as well.

No worries, we've all done ... unfortunate things.... when we were learning to work with something new to us. I once blew the whole powerplane off a mainframe cabinet because I tripped with a box of screws in my hand....
