Hey guys. I've been having problems with my system lately. (Had another thread on here)

Anyways I'm trying to boot my motherboard outside of the case to diagnose properly but can't get a response.

I currently have my cpu, ram, and power supply connected and I'm trying to short out the power switches (which I've done before) but no luck.

Cpu is i5 4670k
Corsair vengeance 16gb 2400mhz ram
650 watt psu rosewill hive bronze

Motherboard is asrock z97 killer

Am I missing something? (I also tried it with my gpu r9 390x connected but still no luck.)

Why can it boot inside the case but not out? Thanks for the replies

That's odd, normally it's the other way around :) Do you have the 24 and the 4/8pin power connectors from the PSU to the mobo? No GPU and using the mobo video connectors? Tried connecting the power switch from the case and using it? Mobo on a non conductive surface?

I know right ^ lol.

And yes the correct ports are connected and fully plugged in. I tried it with and without the video card also. Right now its plugged into the onboard graphics.

I'm going to try moving it off the box I have it on. And the case thing sounds like a good idea. I'll try that

Okay. I just tried resetting the cmos via the pins 1 and 2 and putting the jumper on 2 and 3 and placing it back. That didn't work. (Followed the manual and it said to leave it on 2 and 3 for 15 seconds. So I did that)

That didn't work so next I tried removing the battery and waiting 10 minutes. Placed it back and same error.

More than likely I need a new motherboard but I'll try anything. Anyone got any suggestions?

Chances are it's shorting itself out against something you're putting it on. put some of those hexagonal raise-up stilts under the screw holes and screw a screw into em, one set of those for each motherboard screw hole to lift the hole platform up, and then try it. While building my dad's computer, it wouldn't boot because it was shorting against the case bc the stilts were too short.
