Motherboard won't turn on after weird behavior.

So last night I heard my computer start, it had happened a few times in the past randomly at night after I've put it into sleep mode. I thought it was just something that's accidentally hit my mouse or keyboard, not a big deal.

This morning the computer was still running. So I pressed a random key to see if I can get the screen up and turn it off. When I pressed a button on my keyboard, my keyboards LEDs flashed as if it was coming up from sleep but then dimmed again. I press it a few more times and nothing, monitor was black too. Computer was still running during this time.

I did a cold reset by holding down the power button. And when i try to turn it on again, nothing was running. The single power light on my MOBO was on but no fans were running at all.

At first I thought it was a PSU problem. I isolated it and shorted the power slot and the fan immediately turned on with power. So I'm assuming it's not the PSU that's at fault here. But if I reconnect the motherboard to the PSU and try to power it normally, PSU fans remained off.

What are some of the things I can try? This is a gigabyte ga170x mobo, if that's relevant.
