i recently bought everything for a build i built it in case and all without testing and nothing happened not even one flick of a fan or anything while connected to the mother board but i had a psu tester i tested it and worked fine fan for the psu turned on and everything i plugged a fan into one of the psu fan connectors worked perfectly fine as well but once the 20/4 pin connects to the mother board nothing turns one or anything is my mother board dead already ? i already tried the cpu fan test with the cpu fan and 20/4 pin connected only and still did not work

Yep check that the eight pin power block from your PSU is connected to your motherboard.
Look at your manual that came with the board to see the location of the power block on your motherboard.

If it`s not connected you will get no power up of the system when you press your power button on your case.
You probably missed it because it`s tucked away in a hard to see place and can be overlooked Matt.

i have determined that it is and was the board after all i just barely tried the psu hook up with one of my old 2006 rigs mother boards that i kept and tested the 20/4 pin on it plugged it the mobo cpu pin and the led and cpu fan and it powered up no problem when i tried it before with the msi 970 and nothing even happened thanks for your help
