What CPU is currently in it? From what I found that mobo uses the LGA1150 socket, if so the best CPU you can use is the i7 4790k.

No.
That board supports only supports 8th gen chips, the 7700k is a 7th gen chip.

B250 is pointless with a k series chip. You want a Z270 board with that CPU, for overclocking. You need ddr4 as well.
