Hey all.

Looking to buy an AM4 motherboard for my 1600x and my Vega RX 56.

I haven't selected my ram yet and am waiting on Black Friday. However, I heard that only certain motherboard s can utilise certain RAM speeds e.g. 1300, 1600, 2000, 2400, 2666, 3000, etc.

Whilst looking at the motherboards specs, exactly which spec determines whether the motherboard can use a certain RAM speed or not, and how exactly does it work?

Thanks,

Arron

if you want to be sure, go to the motherboard web page and go to the support tab and click on memory QVL list. Ryzen likes faster memory 3000mhz+ so what you can do is find a kit on that list that you like and get it. it's been tested and is supposed to work in that MB+RAM combo. does it have to be on that list? NO but it's better safe than sorry.
