Hello, I have a AMD Phenom(tm) x4 910, and I was wondering if this would work http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/ . Also does anyone know of any better mobo's for this price ($89) or less? I'm sorry I'm a noob, I don't know how to check compatibility

Solution
well according to what your posted as your processor its a phenom 2 910 quad core .. phenom 2 processors are socket am3 but will also work with AM3+ boards. what you want to do is look to see if your processor is is compatible with the CPU socket type. Also i would sugjest that if you plan on changing your motherboard also consider changing your ram as it might be incompatible with newer AM3+ boards. types of ram would be incompatible are ddr2 ram you want ddr3 ram minimum 1066 Mhz with those processors but i would not go higher than 1600Mhz ddr3 ram.

I believe I have this type of ram

Since DDR3 1333, so i'm assuming I'm good? Also could you pease explain why I shouldn't go higher? Would it cause any problems or would it just be a waste of money?

well the processor it's self has issues with higher clocked ram. much beyond 1600MHz I am not saying its not possible to run higher clocked ram I am how ever saying i would not advise it because it would or more than likely will make your system unstable.

Alright, thanks for all the help! I greatly appreciate it!
