Hello there!

I am a bit worried about my motherboards temperature.

Mi hardware is as follows:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66 Ghz
Motherboard: Asus P5K
GPU: Point Of View Geforce 8800 GT

Ive installed the official software: Asus Pc Probe for the motherboard and Nvidia's NTune for the gpu, and I read these temperatures in idle state:

CPU: 40º
Motherboard: 48º
GPU: 62º

Are these data alright? I am abit worried about the motherboard, I find strange that it has more tempreature than the CPU... have you any opinion about that?

Related to this matter: do you know any freeware software for monitoring these temperatures (Cpu, hd, gpu, mobo)? Ive read about Speedfan, do you recommend it?

Thank you in advance!!!
Best regards from Spain!

well it depends on what the ambient temp is. if it's on a warm spring day, then yea its perfectly normal. if on a cold day with no heating in the house, it's really high. my average a warm day is 34-35c now. back in winter, the temps used to be 23-24c.

Splendid
The motherboard seems a bit warm, but that can indicate the surrounding air is warm as well, as someone previously noted. Don't know what case or number of fans that you have, but sometimes just adding a fan or turning the case fans up in speed can help the temps a lot. One problem that seems to be increasing is that the northbridge on many motherboards doesn't get enough air circulation, so it gets warmer than it should. So check to make sure that some air is moving over it.

The CPU and GPU temps look fine, by the way.

Many thanks!
I have only the CPU fan, I think I could install one aditional fan in the rear... do you recommend any additional action?
