I have a Motorola Surfboard 6121 on Xfinity. Whenever I try to connect the modem to a device with a gigabit port, it never completes the internet cycle. Whenever I connect it to a 10/100 mbps port it works perfecty. However, if I unplug it and plug it into a gigabit ethernet port, it stops responding. In the logs it gives this error code, "No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out." Any suggestions provided will be of much appreciation.

EDIT: Fixed my spelling of gigabit

Solution
The box may be defective or you may have a bad cable. The No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out message is related to the coax connection going to the isp not the ethernet. It means the modem has lost contact with the ISP.

Maybe have the ISP come out and check or if you own the modem maybe replace it. The ethernet connection to the modem should come up and work even if you completely disconnect the cable to the ISP.
LOL - - it's a "gigabit" port, not the Gigabyte the tech company

The gigabit port is probably expecting a much higher bandwidth/faster speed than what your ISP is providing, so it's not suitable as it's unable to sync.

For your bandwidth you need to use the standard 10/100 LAN.

If 10/100 works, what's wrong with that?

You're right, its been a long fight with my wifi router and modem :ouch:

The issue with 10/100 is that very few WiFi routers with great coverage lack that port. The reason why I am concerned in the first place is that my old (and horrendous) Netgear router decided to die on me. It would only project about 1/3 of my speeds, not limited by the hardware of the device I was testing it on, but on the router itself. I purchased a 15 dollar TP-Link router to use as a range extender and using that product as my sole router gave me speeds well above my packaged speeds. I don't use the router anymore because it has too many latency spikes. I would like to upgrade to a higher range and more powerful router but I can't find any highly ranged ones that do not exhibit the gigabit port.
