Motorola Surfboard SB6141 connecting to xbox 360?

I was wondering if it was possible to connect my Motorola Surfboard SB6141 to my xbox 360. The internet works fine on my computer but when I plug the cable into my xbox it doesn't connect to live at all. Any help would be great.

did you reboot the modem after you connected the XBOX straight to the modem?

with some ISPs you need to.

I would recommend using a router for security and then assign a static IP to the XBox which you enter into DMZ of the router

Upon initialization the modem gloms onto the first MAC address it sees. From that moment, until another initialization, it will only speak to that NIC. If you want to hook the modem to another NIC you must power cycle the modem after making the hookup so that it will talk to the new NIC.
