Just purchased this modem to replace my Comcast modem. I need the Ethernet ports on the back for a desktop that's near the modem. If I turn the WiFi off and use my own router in another room, are you still able to use the other Ethernet ports? The dumb modems Comcast provided all did this and it was quite annoying. Has anyone used this modem that can confirm this for me? Mine is still on it's way.

Solution
If you want all your devices to be on the same 'network', you'd need to set up your router as an access point. You should be able to find instructions for this in the users manual.

Basically, you turn off DHCP on the router, and give it a static IP address based on the DHCP network provided by the motorola.
