Just received a 1.8-inch SATA II SSD as a gift and want to mount it in my desktop case. I've searched everywhere online and can't find a kit or rails designed to mount a 1.8-inch device in the 3.5-inch or 5.25-inch bays on my case. Any ideas?

Also I'm thinking of getting another SSD that is 2.5-inches and have the same issue.

Tape it under your mobo tray with your excess cables. "Hey man, where's your hard drive?"

I can just see it now, a specialized mobo slot providing power and SATA data connections for SSDs...

They just don't have adapters like that yet.
Right now all the adapters are for IDE not Sata.
If you have a sheet metal shop that does small jobs they should be able to fabricate an mounting bracket for you.
1/8" milled aluminum sheet bent to the shape of the drive bay that you want to put it into, with holes drilled for the mounting screws.
It's funny because I have a case that has square shaped clip in brackets for the 3.5" drives. It's the Antec SuperLanboy. If your drive has mounting screw holes on it's bottom it would work.
