Mouse disconnecting when power cable is plugged in

Hey guys,
My mouse seems to run fine when my laptop is not connected to the power supply, however as soon as I connect the laptop to its charger, my mouse continually disconnects and reconnects and I get the message usb device not recognised. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Probably should mention it's an optical mouse
