So i had this issue for a long time, already had multiple Reddit threads about it, but still hasn't been solved.

Mouse freezing every few seconds/minutes, depending on the USB i have it plugged into. Tried multiple mice, same symptom with all of them. Keyboard works when mouse is froze, so does windows.

The weird thing is that if i have my mouse set to 400 dpi, it literally freezes every 5 seconds, i have it at 1600, it freezes only every minute.
Someone suggested checking dpc latency so i downloaded latencyMon. Here are the results:

https://gyazo.com/eec0c384328268b5baf148c6950a59f2

I can copy the results .txt if that helps.

PC specs:

  • -gtx 1050
    -m5 a97 le r2.0
    -16gb ram
    -fx 6300
I hope someone could help since it's really annoying especially while gaming.

here is the advanced search, use it to find your 10 series card and choose your operating system

https://www.nvidia.com/download/find.aspx

Advanced Driver Search -- I used the 10 Series, Geforce and selected the 1050 card you indicated, then chose windows 8.1 x64 drivers and got that list. you can choose whatever os you have.

Also check the specific mouse webpage under support for a driver. Most mice are just plug and play, but not all (particularly if the mouse is wireless). Also if it is a wireless mouse, reconfigure the the mouse (and check the batteries).

For example Logitech even has a driver for their SetPoint controller software. Setpoint also allows you to update the mouse and keyboard drivers.

I have the newest mouse driver. That isn’t the problem. Also, my mouse isn’t wireless.

The main question is how to fix those high latency drivers, since I’m pretty sure that’s causing the issue.

Already updated the bios and made a fresh install. How to update the chipset though?

Go to the specific webpage for the motherboard. It is listed usually in the same list as the other drivers. The problem is there isn't chipset driver listed for Windows 10. The one below is for Windows 7 & 8, but it is the latest version. It should work, and it is probably the one you are using now.

Thanks for all the help, but it didn't solve the problem... Why is that though if i have my mouse on the lowest DPI setting it's unusable while at 1600 it only freezes every 5-10 minutes? In latencyMon i still have USBPORT.SYS as my highest dpc count

all of them were updated. I'm getting so frustrated about the high latency and being unable to fix it... Any idea which category i should post it where people know the most about this?

so, I see your direct x is just a mess, or so it seems from your latency pics, is it trying to install and failing? can you look at your reliability history and see if something is going on? this is just a driver issue. more experts should be along.... according to some, you might have to roll back drivers for the ASMedia hub and Nvidia drivers, some have solved it by doing this

https://www.ghacks.net/2015/12/27/disable-nvidia-streamer-service-to-improve-video-card-performance/

and others got lucky by clean installing windows 10 again.

I recommend doing a custom install of nvid drivers, option to do a clean install, or use DDU in safe mode as so many here suggest.

No errors or what so ever in reliability history. Should i remove and install direct x again?

screenshot of latencymon again: https://gyazo.com/da453b5fa7034a94f903267b8673705c

Also, why is the problem more frequent on low DPI?? Makes no sense to me

MERGED QUESTION
Question from TMarkHun : "High latency USBPORT.SYS, nvlddmkm.sys and dxgkrnl.sys (mouse freezing)"

I think that the problem is an incompatibility with the motherboard or BIOS. The motherboard is around five or six years old now. The chipset driver was from 2013. That is the only way I can think of that the DPI would affect the freezes.

Freezes are generally due to software issues, but a graphics driver wouldn't have any thing to to with the Mouse DPI setting. What is the Mouse? Check if it has a driver on the manufacturer website.

Try replicating the problem on another system with this mouse. But I have a feeling that you need a different mouse.
