Mouse keeps working when lifting up from mousepad

I recently bought the CMSTORM SWIFT-RX mousepad after using my Coolermaster mouse on a plain desk for a while. Now when I lift up my mouse an inch from the mousepad, it still moves around the screen. This is extremely frustrating when playing games that require accuracy, such as FPS games. Is this because of the mousepad itself or is it because of my mouse?

I am using the CM alcor mouse I'm pretty sure.
Is there a way to fix this or do I have to buy a new mouse/mousepad?

If there isn't a way to adjust liftoff sensitivity in the mouse software then you are bust. Its surprising that it only started after you got the mousepad...weird.

I knew about the lift-off distance, I just wondered why it only occured after purchasing my mouspad...

The pad probably has more micro structure than the desk surface, that the mouse's optics can track even when it's lifted slightly off. That is, after all, the whole point of a mouse pad - more structure for the optics to "see" so the mouse can track on it more reliably.
