Mouse Lags, but only when its on my mousepad

I have no clue why this is happening, I tried washing it, nothing has worked. Using the mouse on my bare desk works just fine...

Try a different pad. Some optical mice have problems on different surfaces. Even Logitech's "Anywhere Mouse" which works on glass has a hard time tracking on, of all things, cardboard.

Color can make a difference too. Optical mice are more reliable with lighter-colored pads than with darker.

I tried two different mouse pads and it lags on them both. They are both black. Also I would like to note that I've had both mouse pads for a while and this just started happening.
