Hi guys, I really need some help. Here's what happened:

A few weeks ago, I just assemble my own pc (for the first time doing by myself with my own two hands). It's been working fine for a while until today, I did some rearranging and cleaning in my room and I moved the computer to a different corner. When I connected it back again, it was okay, Suddenly windows defender detected a couple of sality viruses and so I had them removed. When I rebooted my PC, it could no longer detect my mouse. Every time, I had to unplug the mouse from the usb port and reconnect it for it to detect. I've tried moving it around to different ports, I tried tinkering with the bios, to no avail. Here's the funny thing though, when I'm in the bios settings, my mouse is completely functional. It's only when I boot up to my os that it happens. Sometimes it happens to my other usb devices too (a usb network adapter to pick up wifi), it never happens with my keyboard though, and it's always my mouse. Got any ideas?

BTW, I'm running window 8.1, my mobo is is an asus h97. I don't know if that helps

Try to re install all drivers to all your USB items.

I used to have this problem with my old desktop. You could try updating bios, motherboard and the mouse drivers, but based on your description of the problem I think it's software/windows related. I was never able to fix this issue when it happened to me, but I don't think I ever tried reinstalling windows to fix it. Worth a shot.

Check within windows event viewer to see if you can see any critical warnings in regards to USB. It could be that your USB host controller driver needs reinstalled or updated if none of your USB devices are functional within Windows. See if they work in safe mode.

Guys. Thanks for all the help. I tried having my drivers uninstalled one by one via device manager but it didn't work. So I just went and "refreshed" my OS. All is well.... for now... thanks again
