Mouse not working

Hello,
I have an old HP computer. I have not used in a year or so. Now I cannot get my mouse to work.
I have a wireless mouse but the old computer does not see the driver. I have the driver on a memory stick. But with mouse not working I cannot download the driver into the hard drive i am not very technical, please explain in simple way.

I would check whether the wireless mouse needs a fresh battery.

If that doesn't do it, simplest to buy a USB or PS/2 mouse. They almost always work.
