Mouse pad query/concern

Hello,
Recently, I turned on my laptop, and just as I did, I noticed the mouse pad (the synaptics pointing device) was lit full green, as though someone was infiltrating my laptop and using it or something. I grew concerned so I immediately shut my laptop off. I waited a few minutes and restart it. The SPD was back to its normal gray pad. Mind you, I have internet security and what have you. And this probably the third or fourth in as many weeks this has happened to my laptop. Should I be concerned?
I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks so much.

What you can try is disconnecting from the internet when you shut it off so that when you turn it on your not connected and you can see if it's doinf the same thing.
If you didn't see the mouse pionter moving then there 's a chance that nobody is in your laptop. When the mouse pad is touched it goes to green but the mouse pointer also moves.
