Hello guys, I got a problem. First, I hope the category is good.

My problem is that the mouse just randomly started being goofy right after I installed DirectX.
So, let me explain. Today I got a ssd, I put it in my PC, installed windows on it, fresh from 0. So after I installed windows and I set up everything, I started to search for drivers and things. My mouse was working without problems, after let's say.. 4 hours, I wanted to install DirectX so I got some app from microsoft that installs every directx, from 2006 and so on. After everything installed, my mouse just started randomly double clicking or not even clicking. I clicked on the browser but it didn't work, I pressed harder and it worked. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I don't really understand what is the problem with it. Could my mouse just broke right after the instalation? If I hold click on my desktop, it just randomly opens and closes that thing that you can do on the desktop (i dont know how it is called).

If I press a little up on the mouse, it double-triple clicks randomly. If I press normally, sometimes works without problems, sometimes doub-clicks, sometimes doesn't even click. I don't understand, was the timing that bad?

I have a Mionix Castor.
I tried reinstalling the software, the firmware, troubleshooting it, uninstalling the driver from device manager and restarting the pc, holding left-right-middle click and unplugging - plugging back the USB, tried switching from 3.0 to 2.0, same issue. What else can I do and check? It just feels so random, it worked without problems, I didn't have A problem before, and right when I installed DirectX, it just broke. Thanks, if anyone can help I appreciate. I will try and contact support too.

Solution
Thanks for the answers guys, but I think I managed to resolve it, it's temporary I guess.

What I did is cleaning it a little, I put the vacuum on the cracks and I let it around 30 seconds to get out all the dust, and it works.

I think in the future I will buy an air compressed can if I can find one, and spray a little on the switches.

How long have you used this particular mouse? It is possible that it is worn out, or possibly the switches in the mouse are dirty and therefor not making the proper connection.

I think almost a year, something like 10-11 months. I will try tomorrow and clean it, maybe it will work. I have read some reviews and some people say that mionix changed the switches from 5 million to 20 million clicks. I had it almost a year, I don't think I got to one million clicks.

sounds like the contact is worn out in mouse.

i had a logitch mouse that started having those issues. (mk750)

took it apart and found out the contact spring (its more like a thin copper flat piece) was broken on side so it wasnt moving properly and when it did sometime it would stick.

pressing harder worked for awhile but eventually it only worsened the contact until it snapped entirely.

even if rated for more clicks than you have always chance for failure ;/
