Mouse wont work with windows 8.1

Hi, i have recently built a gaming computer, and it works wonderful. I have also received a devastator keyboard and mouse combo by coolermaster for Christmas. The mouses model is ms2k. The keyboard worked totally fine so no need to explain it. So when i plug my mouse into a USB port(i tried switching ports already) windows gives me a message that the mouse malfunctioned. P.s this computer has not yet been connected to the internet but i have just ordered a usb wifi adapter which should be here in 2-3 days. So maybe the wifi is the problem? Let me know what you all think.

How recent was the assembly? It could simply be a case of out-dated USB drivers. Cooler Master Peripherals rarely if ever fail, so we can start with the basics.

Could be various things. If you didn't properly run windows os/driver updates yet, then I wouldn't be shocked. Regardless, you could look for this device's drivers online, download them to a thumb drive and run them on your computer. Assuming you have access to another computer that has connectivity.

The assembly as in the computer, or the mouse? If the mouse, it was about a week back.

I have checked online and there appears to be no drivers

So how are we going to solve this, i have just read that this device does not require any drivers, and should work once plugged in. I have just tried it again but no luck

My apologies for not getting back to you. You might want to try this: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/usb-devices-not-working-windows If not, then try running a windows update. (that usually installs all the necessary drivers, as the device doesnt require drivers itself, however your USB ports might.)
