Mousepad for Twin Eye Sensor

I have been using my Rat7 on just the wood of my desk for awhile, and all of the nicks in the wood are starting to make the pads on the bottom of the mouse come off. I know I need a mousepad, but I have heard some soft or plain white/shiny black mats cause tracking issues with the twin eye sensor. I don't know how I would decide what to get without trial and error, so does anyone have any experience with what types of surfaces will not work? Any help is much appreciated.

Shiny and white is bad, they both will reflect beams back to the mouse causing them to not track. Get anything other than those 2 colors.
