Movie Maker: problems writing back out to dv camera

I used Windows Movie Maker 2 to create a 30 minute video.
It looks fine when viewed in Movie Maker. But when I write
it back out to the dv camera, it is sometimes very choppy.
Most of the movie is fine, but some sections appear to be in
slow motion and the sound is bad. It usually happens near the
end of the movie, but not always.

I have 2 7200 IDE hard drives on one IDE cable. The drives
are in DMA mode according to device manager. The avi file is
on one drive, the temporary files are on the other.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try defragmenting your hard drive.
