Moving ENTIRE User profile from C to D ??

Hi!

Does anyone know of a reason why NOT to move an entire user profile
from its default location in C:\Users\(username) to, say, the D drive?

Easy. Windows will no longer function properly. The user profile is required to be on the system drive and cannot be moved. Some folders within, like "Documents" can be redirected ( https://www.techsupportalert.com/content/how-move-windows-7-personal-folders-my-documents-another-drive.htm ).

Anything else may well render windows inoperable.

Many thanks to all that gave of their precious experience and advice!

It has been WELL TAKEN and followed saving me from yet another disaster!

I moved the Desktop, Music and Video folders from C:\Users\(username)
to my D-data drive. Things seem to be very happy!
