guys i have a question about moving a hhd with all my games and personal data installed on it. I want to build another system with a new mobo and cpu so i have to get a new oem os as well. So what im asking is that when i get a small ssd just to put the os on how will i get the hdd to run in tandem the ssd so i can have all my games and data like programs and emulators straight back on the desk top or is this even possible?

Solution
Indeed, you don't have to re-download your files.
But you will have to reinstall steam and origin, define their game paths and copy the content over to the new install location.
For steam

For Origin

for mods i would image you'd have to reïnstall your mod manager, then move the .7z and zip files to wherever the new mod manager install keeps them.
Or add mod from a file, then browse to said mod files.
If the your new OS supports the current filesystem of your HDD (likely NTFS), then you should be able to mount it no problem.
However, it will be just mounted as "loose data" next to your SSD with the new OS installed on it. (if you set it to boot from your SSD atleast).
Depending on how they are installed, having your games and programs work just like that is very unlikely.
If they're installed via a service like steam then yes you could simply re-add them to your library in a few steps (don't remember exact steps, but google is your friend.)

i will still be using 8.1 its just im getting an i5 4670 and getting rid of my amd 760k and basically rebuilding the system. I just was wondering if i could keep all my emulators and mod files and retain them on the new build and yes i play through steam and origin client.
