I have an HDD from an older PC with some important files on it, the HDD has Windows installed on it,I was wondering if I could hook up the hard drive to my current PC which also has an HDD with windows installed?
Would having both hooked up conflict with one another?

Solution
if it is just to get some files off it then you can hook it up as a secondary HDD to do this. you wouldn't be able to connect it and boot up the version of windows that's on it because its not configured for that computer

It shouldn't be an issue to attach both drives (it should still boot off the first), and it won't hurt to give it a try. If you do have an issue you can enable hot swapping drives in your bios and then attach the data cable after starting up for the older drive.

You can also use an external USB hard drive caddy.

What versions of Windows are on the two?
