Moving interstate

G'day all,
This is semi OT, but, since it's about my PC's I use for
Digital Video Capture.
As I'm moving interstate in the next few months I was
wondering about how worried I should be about transporting
my PC's. I still possess the cartons the PC cases came in,
will that be enough? Also there are nine Hard drives, I was
thinking about wrapping them in bubble wrap and putting them
in a shoebox and carrying them as hand luggage on the plane.
If anyone has any suggestions or experience I'd be more than
interested in your input.
Thank you

Slippery

I heard it suggested that you move your equipment by UPS or
other trucking company. That way it gets some "insurance" on it,
you don't have to lug all that stuff around the airport, and you
don't have to deal with security over your equipment. This was
in the context of doing out of town shoots, but it might apply to
moving a small amount of stuff from one place to another.
Airlines "loose" stuff too often. Now you aren't even allowed
lock your baggage because everything is supposed to be
checked now (I'll bet it isn't, but yours might). I moved from
California to Massachusetts carrying everything as excess
baggage. It was cheaper (~$3.00 a piece) than trucking it.
That was 1971 though. I don't think it would work today.
