Moving just the os to new ssd drive

I need help moving os to my new ssd from my hdd, I only want to move just the os to the ssd

you cant clone only the os

unless you uninstalled every thing else first

clone means an exact copy

or you do a clean install of os on it

mcnumpty is right, you can't move "just the os" - you can copy the whole hard drive and then remove what you don't want OR (better solution) would be to do a clean install.

A good format/clean install is good every now and again to keep performance high.

Its 500GB, 503gb in total on 1 TB hdd

Sooo...reduce that "503" to about 400GB, and you can clone the whole thing over to the new drive.
There is almost certainly a lot of junk files you can get rid of on that drive.

Old downloads, game install files, etc, etc.

Or, a clean install on the new SSD.

As said, you can't clone 'only' the OS. Everything on the C drive, including all that other junk.

If you do a clean install on the SSD, you won't 'lose' anything on the current HDD, but you WILL have to do a full reinstall of all your current applications.
The new OS will know nothing about them.
