I just bought a new Samsung SSD hard drive... Now i need to move my OS drive to the new SSD (Windows folder, program files and my documents)

The SSD drive comes with Norton Ghost, so i tryed it... I followed the instructions and picked option "Copy my hard drive". After the cloning process everything seems to be correct, the files are on my new SSD... But when i reboot and change the BIOS to boot on the SSD, i get the error "BOOTMGR not found"

what am i doing wrong ?

BTW, Windows 7 is in use when i am trying to clone the HD since Norton Ghost is installed on the same HD i'm cloning, so it may be the source of the problem... Is there a program that would allow me to clone the HD outside of windows, something like a bootable CD/USB that would clone my HD without using it ?

I'm confused... please help me ! I don't want to reinstall windows...

You can use the Windows feature in system and security called system image. Create a system image on the drive you have now and then install windows on the ssd and then when you boot from the SSD you can go into system and security and select restore from system image. You will then have all og you settings and files restored on the new SSD.

How can i install Ghost on a bootable USB Key ? I searched but haven't found any way

I downloaded Acronis but it doesn't works. It says some error about "Windows installer service" not being correctly installed

Where is the "system image" feature of windows ? I tryed the windows restore utility, and then creating a "restore point" but the restore point is only 100MB so it definatly doesnt include all files of my 120GB disk...

this happens to me when i try to clone my hd to ssd using a few different cloning programs--if you have a

windows 7 disk then you can sort it

boot off windows 7 disk with only your ssd connected to make it simple--obviously with the cloned os on it not

blank

choose the repair option during install

the repair console has a feature to automatically find and fix boot problems

this rewrites the mbr and your ssd will then boot

Ok so...

I made a system image of my 300GB main HD (only 85GB is in use)

The Windows Image Backup files were successfully created on my external HD. The backup files are only 56GB even if 85GB of datas is supposed to be on the backup (wtf ??)

Then i restart my computer, put windows7 install CD and i try to restore the image backup on my new SSD.....

But the install is telling me that my SSD is too small for the image !!! WTF !!!!!!

The image is 65GB and there's supposed to be 85GB of data.... And my SSD is 128GB !!!! Why the hell is it telling me that it's too small ??? Grrrrrr
