Moving OS to new SSD

Hi everyone,

I just cloned both system reserved partition as well as my system (C: ) partition to the new SSD drive using EaseUS Todo Backup.

It seems to work, however one thing is bugging me it totally doesn't seem right and I'm afraid I could run into more problems.

1. When I boot from SSD drive, I see the C: drive is the SSD partition that was made (Can tell by the size of the partition and of course the speed of boot and activities. ) The old C: drive from HDD appears as H: drive.

2. When booting from old HDD drive, C: drive is the OLD C drive, while the SSD drive is under H: (again I see this based on the size of partition and also the speed of booting).

Is this normal ? Am I going to have any problems and how do I fix it if needed?

I wanted to keep my old installation on HDD in intact state so I can easily revert back if needed and I would prefer to keep it as it is for the time being until I test this long enough.

Solution
Windows very normally names the hard drive the OS it's booting off of to the "C:" drive. This is normal behavior, and should not cause any problems, since the OS is a like-for-like clone on both drives.

Solution
its normal for the boot drive to be assigned C:
once booted the other drive is considered a data drive and you can change the drive letter if you want by using disk management (run diskmgmt.msc) rt click the drive and Change drive letter...

You will want to test your setup by powering down and disconnecting one of the drives data cable and then boot back up. This will simulate a failed drive scenario.
repeat disconnecting the other drive.

Let us know if one of the drives can't boot up with the other drive being disconnected.

edit - let me add that if you do change the drive letter, keep in mind that any programs looking for H: will have issues.
