I'm as new as it gets here, so I hope I put this post in the correct place. A friend recommended this site to me.

My family and I will be moving into a rural area at the end of March. My boys and I play a lot of PC games, as well as Xbox 1 and PS4. I usually just play WoW on my PC and my boys are on Steam a lot.

Where we are moving the only "high speed" option is crappy Hughes Net. I don't want that as I know it would be garbage for just about anything we'd want to do online. Charter/Spectrum stops about 6 miles away, so I doubt they're coming my way any time soon.

I'm not expecting some magical to happen and we get great internet 24 hours a day... but I would like something that could work for about 20 total hours a week so we can get our online gaming fix in.

Now I'm no tech savvy person, so I don't really know what options there are to me. I do have AT&T unlimited phone data, and the service is decent where we'll be moving to. I know I "could" use my phones data somehow, but if there is something more reliable, I'd love to hear it.

I've probably missed out on giving some important details, so if anyone is nice enough to reply, I'll do my best to answer any questions I need it.

Thanks for checking this out... again I hope it's in the correct place.

Solution
Start by asking your neighbors or any other local resources. Some rural areas have microwave internet distribution. But, if you are very rural, then cellular and satellite are probably your only other options. Poor connectivity is a price you pay for living rurally.
