I am thinking about restoring my PC. I have my OS on an SSD and various files on a HDD. However, my HDD is partitioned into two partitions (I have photos on one and other files on the other). Now the plan was to unplug my HDD, wipe and reinstall Windows on my SSD and then plug my HDD back in. Will the new OS recognize my partitions on my HDD, or will the data be lost? If it doesn't recognize it, what can I do pre-wipe to secure my data (I don't have another drive which I can copy the HDD to).

Solution

Yes - it's gonna be fine. No data can be lost that way.
You may need to reassign drive letters to your partitions after reinstall.

Only possible problems are if your HDD is configured in some exotic way - like dynamic disk for example.
Unfortunately, I don't have a very fast internet connection and therefore that is not an optimal solution. Your answer also doesn't really answer the question :/

u dont need great internet for to use one drive properly if u wana keep anything important load it to a usb flash drive one drive is prety good for moving files u wana keep & restore its there for that reason
