Hey I want to move my pc, I will move it on car a relatively short distance, it's safe enough to put it in the case box with its plastic bag and EPS foam (the hard one)? I'm prolly overthinking since is a new pc, but want to make sure. My main concern is the static electricity that may build up. Thanks

Not knowing what the pc is I do have a couple of suggestions.

  1. Always make sure that the motherboard is flat to the ground when shipping. This means that the PCI cards are standing up, not on their side, for gravity to tear your pci header off board.
  2. If you have a massive on air CPU cooler or large GPU it is never a bad Idea to remove them during shipping. Gravity working on either of them in a hard bump is not really good. That is assuming you know how to put them back in properly. If not just make sure the motherboard is flat and be gentle.
  3. Always make sure to go through the shut down sequence (Shut Down through windows, not sleep) before shipping. It isn't as important today as it used to be but if you have a rust drive you want it to park the heads before moving.
  4. Backups are always a good idea.
  5. I will usually move my computer hardware in my personal vehicle and not leave it to the movers.

Static isn't normally an issue. Most damage I have dealt with over the years is mechanical from poor handling during the move. I always do a backup before moving. It seems to be my rust hard drives favorite time to die. USAFRet is correct, don't overthink it. But no matter how careful I have been in the past the "don't drop it" thing hasn't always been my fault or in my control at the time and one of my worst moving experiences with computer damage was only a two mile move that my wife and kid were in a hurry and full on dumped a tower on its side and jerked about every header off of the board. Just be careful.

I moved my PC by car in a 45 min drive, all i did was pulled the GPU and had it inside its original box, no issues when i reconnected everything, you should be able to keep everything plugged in without issues, but just as another said, don't get into a crash, and you should be fine, but to be on the safe side, id recommend to remove the GPU and reinstall when you get to your destination, same might go for the CPU cooler, if its massive at least, just make sure to have extra thermal paste if you remove the CPU cooler
