I have a Seagate 7200RPM 1TB HDD, I was looking into SSHD a 2TB Seagate or WD SSHD. Since SSD are pretty pricey for 500GB+ I was wondering if a SSHD worth getting for it's price and performance between the SSD and SSHD? Theirs pros and cons from people who owns a SSHD and want to know the real truth about SSHD and it's value if it's worth getting replacing my HDD.

Current rig:
i7 3770K
Gigabyte GA Z77X UD3H
8GB HyperX Fury
Asus GTX 970 Strix
Noctua NH U14s
1TB Seagate HDD 7200 rpm

You don't have to put the documents on the SSD, just the programs.

Reinstall OS/Programs on SSD and just have the files on the HDD. That will be much faster then SSHD will be.
Safer for your files too. Once the drive is just used for files and not OS it gets much less...

Yeah but if the SSD is full I don't really want to go out and buy more. That's why I was explaining about SSD's that are 500GB+ are over price and I would love to get one if it was cheaper but as what it is right now I'm not going to come close to getting a SSD. 120GB or 256GB isn't going to be enough for me since I'm a editor.

I'm planning to run a SSD for boot and my most important (most used) sw and games. It doesn't take a huge investment for just enough of a drive for that, though, and the speed of solid state over spinning metal is awesome, not to mention the longevity.

You can always get two cheap TB class HDDs and raid them for back up purposes and big storage, even backup your SDD on that array.

I get what your trying to say now thanks I'll try to find a good price SSD.

When you say files, do you mean the files for the game and to put the executable on the SSD?
Or other files such as multimedia etc?
Sorry, I just need to know for my own build as this pertains to me as well.
Thanks!

"Files" generally means doc/music/movies/etc.
Executable means applications. Games, programs, etc.

Yeah, I know, but there's actual files for the games and the icon that you click.
Does just the .EXE need to be on the SSD and all the .mrs stuff etc for games and maps and stuff go on HDD

No, do not try to split the game files. It will end badly.
Whatever applications/games fit on the SSD, do that. Other applications on the HDD.
Doc/Music/etc on te HDD.
