I installed a functioning copy of Win 7 on a SATA HDD, have used it for about 5 months and now need to move the drive to a new, freshly-built PC. The old unit has crapped out and we're decommissioning it.

What do I need to do? Have tried simply moving it and Win 7 wants to rebuild the whatever profile and can't. I'm stuck dead in the water. Haven't tried backing up and reinstalling as I'd like to keep things as they are, if possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nope you dont need to re-install the OS. You can use your old hdd without making any changes in it because win7 supports all normal board drivers or else you can update your necessary drivers later....I've been doing this every day in my office....Cheers
