Hello Tom's Hardware community, my first time posting here, but I'll get to the subject right away!
I currently own a Asus G55WV gaming laptop (i7 3610QM @ 2,3 Ghz. and GTX 660M @ 2GB) and I'm looking forward to upgrading to a desktop PC in the summer. However, I have a problem: I got this laptop as a gift from a family friend who got it from a friend of his who was going to throw it away.
However, my family friend deicided to give it to me, but neither I or him have original checks and other papers, so my question is that am I still able to extract my OS from my laptop to my future desktop? I believe it originally had Windows 7 or 8 installed, but I upgraded to 10 when it was free to do.
