Yeah, maybe no direct interest, but all these browsers competing with eachother stimulates innovation, which in the end leads to a better browsing experience no matter what browser you choose. So correct me if im wrong, but you sir are interested, just indirectly. ;)

And yet you comment, i'll be intrested in ie again once it allows for a much easier time customizing my ui to fit me, performance numbers i stopped caring about once my computer stopped being made of wood.

I dunno, there are days I just wish MS would stop worrying about the extra fluff, and just focus their time and energy on the OS and some of their core products, like office. I think if they focused on a smaller selection of things, instead of trying to cater to everyone and have a million different pieces of software (yes, thats an exaggeration), that the quality of what they have would improve tremendously.
Honestly, they want to implement an app store in Windows 8 anyway, which Im sure they'll make a cut from the sales, so why not just make sure to focus on things like the OS and make sure it's the best it can be, and then let others make the more specialized products that they seem to always make mediocre at best, like IE and WMP and the such. Just my opinion.

the only time you'll see microsoft and quality in the same sentence, is this one.

Thanks for the laugh :) Its just been one of those days.
I seriously dont think all their stuff is bad. I do really like Windows 7, and some of the older iterations, like XP and 2000. I just think they should drop some of the stuff that people tend to replace anyway, and be more focused on core products. But as I said before, its just my opinion.

I actually like IE9, most of the time. Honestly, the only thing that really leashes me to FF is that I believe it has the best ad blocker. I customized my FF for my personal tastes for a while; which was quite enjoyable, but major updates broke my changes. :(

... er maybe because IE9 has a bit of a stupid layout for a browser. Lets see, a back button that isn't a complete circle. An Address bar which looks almost the same as a tab (I'm constantly thinking its a TAB, I admit I only use IE 0.01% for my web use). IE9 UI (User interface) is a copy of FireFox 4-5-6 (Which is really up to version 4.2) which is almost an exact copy of Opera 10~11 (which 10.0 came out 2 years ago) but without the customization of abilities.

As of today, Opera 11 does things that FF, IE, Chrome cannot DO that are a god-send for browser functionality. (Which is also why it eats more memory)

I'll give MS credit that IE9 is vastly improved over IE8. But its still a crappy browser to use. And with it being incompatible with IE8 and IE6 with some sites, then the whole "IE requirements" gets thrown out the window. Of course, we should all curse and complain to sites that artificially blocks certain browsers because of "incompatible" versions.

Use OPERA 11.5, at www.opera.com = See what has inspired the others.

I would have replied sooner but I had to burn my old wooden computer to create enough steam to power my new iron one.

IE 9 is a decent browser and was a notable improvement over the previous versions.
I don't get the drama people raise here.
Is it similar to the premise 'Norton was bad back in the past, so we assume it's bad now'?
Mind you I wouldn't use Norton either way because I prefer a decent free solution such as AV... but seriously.
IE can easily rival most browsers out there today (despite the premise it was built on an older engine) and it satisfies most peoples needs (at least of those who use them).

The quality of all the top 5 browsers is 1000 times better than they used to be just a few years ago, so to hear a fan of Firefox or Safari pouring vitriol over IE makes me laugh, especially as independant tests done by Tom's a few months ago squarely put IE9 top of the pile.

But that's OK, you keep on living in your little soap bubble.

Hi xbeater :hello: . You are right in what you say,but also do not forget that bringing out IE10 beta earlier out than normal ( IE entry moved from 2 years to every 1 year ) could be just to squash us XP operating system lovers. You know what I mean by that & that is that we can not move up to IE9 nor IE10 browsers for the use of our XP operating systems. :fou: That to me means the steady decline of windows XP os being used to surf the internet, because we are stuck on IE8 only. Also with that report about statcounter & so on,I believe that IE is not really declining fast due to lack of new technology ideas, but due to new browsers coming in like googles chrome,Mozillas Firefox, etc & the intense hatred feeling towards microsoft. ;) If it was not due to hatred of microsoft than you could see their browser lasting longer on statcounter at the highest position. Do not forget also that the move away from microsofts search engine I believe came about the time that the U.S. congress started to get interested in searching for people that did look for certain types of porn. Microsoft did what they wanted more or less even though they also went to court, but google resisted & even went to court quite a few times. Also people say that googles search engine uses another way of tracking down searches for advertising money or revenue than what microsoft has. ;) So what this means is,that people may use googles search engine to evade being tracked :pt1cable: & now are also interested in googles chrome,so what do you expect. :sol:

why would that decline surfing the internet from windows XP? every other web browser still supports XP plus google always advertising chrome on there search page

but don't get me wrong XP needs to fade away plus add to the fact that MS will eventually (if not already) stop updating it then it will become a big security risk.

Clinging on to XP hasn't been a valid excuse for years. XP is 10 years old. IE9/10 not working on XP isn't the problem, people like YOU not upgrading to 7 are the problem.

Ya can Vote me down... but IE9 is still a poor mans FireFox 4-6 browser. IE9 is still better than IE8 by far. FF4-6 looks exactly like Opera from 2 years ago, except its menu tab is orange instead of red/grey and without the functions.

Captain Charisma: WindowsXP extended support ends in April 8, 2014. That 2+ years from now. Security updates are still coming.

billboy999: People still using XP is not causing YOU any problems. Unless you are willing to buy people a copy of Win7 (are you offering), ya should cool your jets. Look, you have people still running 8bit computers, Amigas (mostly for fun I guess) and Windows95 (I think they hate life)... WindowsXP is compatible with pretty much everything out there. As of today, only with Win7 and Vista combined is XP in 2nd place. It still runs fine, it still gets the job done.
And for some users, specialized software or hardware still doesn't work under Win7... you willing to buy a new $5000 plotter for those users? One of my old HP 17" P4 notebooks ran Win7 beta fine... other than no video drivers because HP doesn't want to bother with it, so its on XP. What the choice in that? huh?

This is mostly MS's fault and they learned a lesson I think. Stagnate your OS development (7 years of XP) and everyone gets USED to it too much... but until Win7 came out (just 21 months after Vista) XP continued to sell (and still does somewhat). A major OS release should be every 3-4 years. It'll keep developers on their toes.
