Mp3 causes computer to hang

After a seemingly random amount of playing mp3's, my comp just freezes completely. It seems to only happen when i'm connected to the net, and only in 98/Me (everything was fine in 95). Audio CD's work fine.

Another thing that is probably related is that when i'm connected to the internet my joystick jumps around. Obviously my modem messes with my soundcard in some way, but I can't shift them around, cause they are in the only 2 ISA slots. Please don't suggest I buy a new this that and the other cause i'm broke :) Any ideas?

For anyone who's interested, I seem to have fixed both of these problems by shoving an anti-static in between the two (there was only about 5mm between the cards...)

i know 😎 . anyone else got 'interesting' experiences solved by static packaging or such? Well, it actually made a big difference to me! Now I can stay connected all the time and not sacrifice my Thin Lizzy songs to the internet.

Guess who just discovered the hard way that anti-static bags conduct. I know it seems obvious, but it seemed like a great idea when i shoved it in 🙁 On a related note, anyone know why i can get full duplex all the time except when playing stuff in winamp. I've tried putting the thread priority down and everything, but it still hogs the whole sound card to itself. Most frustrating
(Soundblaster 16 in case you were wondering)
