I'm looking for a reasonably priced (<$200) MP3 player with a built in FM tuner. I read the review on the Neuros MP3 Digital Audio Computer and it looks like what I'm looking for but the add-on 20GB hard drive looks way too bulky. I'd like to be able to carry more than the typical 128MB of music and files so I'd prefer something with a built in HD or removable memory of some type. If anyone has any suggestions as to other players that may work I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Rob

get a netMD with built in AM/FM tuner and the capability to read MP3 and/or WMA files (yes they can read MP3and WMA's nowdays).

they do exist out there and hold about 130Mb per disk i belive. in normal ATRAC mode (which is the MD encoding method) you can get about 30 songs onto a disc (2 choca full CD's) 1 cd at best quality which is good, and 4 CD's at the lowest quality which is when you start hearing a few issues. but you can alwasy carry more than one disc, and the discs are reasonably small.

the advantages are that you can run with a MD player, and a single rechargable NiMH AA sized battery will last about 90 hours. also the storage median of MD is cheap to buy and are rather robust.

you can record radio on the fly, you can record live concerts, and also take dictations with them.

www.minidisco.com is a nice site that offers nearly everything you would want.

i have a MD with AM/FM radio built in and i must say that its damn fantastic

but if you want an MP3 pleyer and jsut an MP3 player then sorry i cna't offer any help :p

Thanks for the advice. I actually would consider that but I also like the idea of being able to use say a 10GB MP3 player for transferring other types of files between computers also.

the nexIIia cost $119...
add what you want for the cf card. you can get a 512mg cf card for $110...that's $219 total.

it also plays a microdrive, it records, and plays fm. it stores all file types. it uses drag and drop to load your music. two AA gives you 15 hours(i don't know the playtime with the microdrive).

whatever else i might eventually get, it will NEVER replace my nexII.

If you carry a cell phone, trade it in for a Motorola MPx200. It runs Mobile Windows, has Windows Media Player, built in FM tuner, removable memory card (SD/MMC) and is normal/small sized. I have one and it is exceptional. Doubles as a cell phone to boot.
