Mp3 tag extended tag text saves as metadata but doesn't show up when file played

So in the past I have used Mp3tag on a windows pc, using the operating system windows 7 to add text to an mp3 file, of which the text successfully showed up once added correctly. The procedure I used to do this in the past, no longer works - (drag and drop mp3 file into mp3tag -> Right click file -> extended tags -> new field -> enter text and then save both windows). Currently this funtionality is not working, and I am at a loss as to why. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
